Hello! Here’s a bit about me.

I became an instructional designer in 2011 after a comically bad career misfire. It turns out I’m not cut out for the world of wholesale souvenir trinkets, but I’m a natural at designing learning solutions in collaboration with educators, subject matter experts, and learning and development teams.

These days, I oversee the operation and continuous improvement of several education programs designed for managers and administrators in the municipal government sector.

Count on me for the following:

Learning Strategy

I connect the dots and find the balance between learning, business, and stakeholder needs. I align designers, developers, and instructors to a common goal and help them make thoughtful decisions that bring a learning solution to life.

Instructional Design

Online or in person, synchronous or asynchronous—I’ve done it all. These days, the experience is just as important as the content. My holistic approach to ID draws from evidence-based teaching and learning practices, UX design, and universal design.

Program Management

I can manage the development and launch of a course or program from end to end. I’ve got you covered when it comes to managing stakeholders, vendors, standards, quality assurance, evaluations, learning management systems, and content maintenance.

Team Leadership

I have a track record of advancing the team’s knowledge and skills wherever I go. I’ve helped designers improve their writing, coached developers to think beyond “click next” eLearning, and addressed team knowledge gaps in web accessibility and UX design/research methods.

Where I’ve worked

I’ve traversed higher education, professional and creative services, non-profit, and international development. I’m highly versatile as a result, and I look for opportunities to lead and learn at the same time. Here are some of the organizations I’ve had the pleasure of working with:

Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO). Manager – Education Services, 2020 to present.

Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario). Instructional Designer and Content Strategist, 2018 to 2020.

Pearson. Lead Instructional Designer, 2016 to 2018.

Klick. Senior Instructional Designer, 2015 to 2016.

Ryerson University. Instructional Designer, 2012 to 2015.

As for the “CPACC” designation after my name…

CPACC stands for Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies, a credential issued by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals. I have a big interest in accessibility, and I think it’s critical for learning professionals to be knowledgeable in this area.
